Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience, performing at the Freeland Center

GRAMMY-Award-winning zydeco artist Terrance Simien brings his internationally acclaimed band, Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience, to the Freeland Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

One of the world’s leading ambassadors of zydeco music, Simien and his band have performed more than 8,500 concerts in over 45 countries, blending traditional Louisiana Creole music with blues, R&B, roots, and contemporary influences. Throughout his career, Simien has shared the stage and studio with legendary artists including Paul Simon, Dr. John, The Meters, Marcia Ball, Dave Matthews, Stevie Wonder, Robert Palmer, and Los Lobos.

Simien’s music has also been featured prominently in film and television. He appears on the soundtrack of Disney’s The Princess and the Frog, showcasing authentic Louisiana music scored by Randy Newman, and has contributed to films such as The Big Easy, Exit to Eden, and A Murder of Crows.

Beyond performance, Simien and his wife and business partner, Cynthia, are nationally recognized leaders in music education and cultural preservation. Together, they created Creole for Kidz & The History of Zydeco, an educational performing arts program that has reached nearly 500,000 students, teachers, and families across more than 20 states and internationally since 2001. They are also founders of MusicMatters, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to mentoring young artists and advocating for music education.

The evening will pay tribute to George Krumme, a Bristow High School graduate, distinguished philanthropist who was elected into the Tulsa Historical Society in 2014. Krumme was a longtime president of All Souls Unitarian Church and served as Democratic National Committeeman from Oklahoma for 20 years. He died at the age of 101 in July 2024.

'Not only was George instrumental in the initial fundraising and endowment of the Freeland Center, he was an inspiration to all of Bristow,' said Chip Cooper, Freeland Center president.
