On Aug. 21, 1942, an adorable baby girl was born to Sadalia Carr and Jim Evans Sr. in Beggs. She grew up and attended school in Beggs. Marozetta gave her life to Christ at an early age. She fellowshipped at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Beggs. She graduated from Wheatley High School, class of 1960.
A couple years after graduation, Marozetta gave birth to a baby girl. She then moved to Bristow where she lived with her brother Roosevelt and sister-in-law Donna Walker. Marozetta joined Duffey Chapel Baptist church upon moving to Bristow. She served and helped out any way that she could while attending. She continued to attend church there when it changed its name and became New Life International under the leadership of Pastor Eric Parker. She finished out her fellowship with the Lord, at Life Church in Slater, Mo.
Marozetta worked as a housekeeper for many years. In 1981, she started working at Kwikset. She worked there for 17 years. She was loved there and loved to play jokes on her co-workers. She loved to fish with family and friends and play bingo. She loved to cook mustard greens and fried chicken. Her yellow cake with chocolate icing was a dessert favorite at family gatherings. Marozetta could press and curl your hair with the best of them. She took up running 5k’s as a hobby. She loved traveling with friends and family. She was a giver. If you needed it, and she had it, it was yours.
She moved with her daughter and son-in-law when her health began to decline. There she took on a life filled with more traveling and attending activities of her grandkids and great grandkids. She loved eating nachos and popcorn with a coca-cola at sporting events. She was always asking where we were going and made sure she wasn’t going to get left behind. Marozetta loved her family and would tell anyone she met that she was Marcia’s mother.
Marozetta was preceded in death by her parents Sadalia Carr and Jim Evans Sr., paternal grandparents Jane and James Carr. Siblings: Sidney Walker, Jessie Walker, Lorene Walker, Ola Mae Walker-Lewis, and Jeanetta Evans-Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Marcia Godwin (Bobby) of Moberly, Missouri, four granddaughters:Tameka Evans of Moberly, Mo, Jasmine Dykstra ( Joe) of Ironwood, Mi, Jessica Godwin and Taylor Godwin, of Springfield, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Adrienne and Jadon Alexander, of Moberly, Missouri, Marcus Waller of Schulenburg, Texas, one great great grandchild, Addison Scott, of Moberly, Missouri.; bothers, Alfonso Walker Sr. (Carmen), Wilbert Walker (Evelyn) of Kansas City, Misssouri, Roosevelt Walker, of Bristow and Jim “Jimbo” Evans Jr. (Earlene), of Tulsa, a host of nieces and nephews. and longtime friend Nathaniel Payne.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Oct.29, 2021, at the New Life International Worship Center. Interment will follow at the Durant Cemetery, Bristow.
