Oklahoma Turnpike Authority to open first new interchange on I-44/Turner Turnpike at SH-66 as part of ACCESS Oklahoma program
A ribbon cutting was held on Thrusday, Dec. 19, 2024, to celebrate the milestone of opening the first new turnpike interchange as part of the ACCESS Oklahoma construction program.
The $98 million widening project on the I44/Turner Turnpike between Bristow and Kellyville includes the opening of a new interchange at SH-66 (mm 203) at Heyburn in Creek County. Opening to traffic today will be the new eastbound on- and offramps and the westbound off-ramp to SH-66. The westbound Turner Turnpike on-ramp from SH-66 is expected to open in summer 2025 after the completion of ongoing construction in the area.
This project is the first in the ACCESS Oklahoma long-range plan to continue the widening of the Turner Turnpike to six lanes fully between Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The Bristow-to-Kellyville section connects to a previous widening project from Sapulpa to Kellyville that was completed during the Driving Forward construction program.
Oklahoma's turnpike system fully converting to cashless tolling this year makes it possible to add new turnpike interchanges that will open more access to communities and improve emergency response times. See a list of all new interchanges planned as part of the ACCESS Oklahoma long-range plan at https://www.accessoklahoma.com.
