The Bristow FCCLA chapter held its 'Cook Around the World' cooking competition recently. Students showed their skills by making different dishes. Local judges scored each dish based on taste, looks, and creativity. After several rounds, the field was narrowed to the top three.
The winners are: 1st place: Raymond Roy 2nd place: Star Killen 3rd place: D’Marri McGee The first- and second-place winners, Raymond Roy and Star Killen, will travel to Orlando, Florida, this spring. They will represent Bristow in the national competition against teams from other schools. Celebrity chef Duff Goldman from Ace of Cakes will be part of the event.
All three winners agreed that their FCCLA advisor, Mrs. Groom, was the main reason they joined the competition. Each one shared a different way she helped them. They said she has a special gift for lifting students up and challenging them to step out of their comfort zones.
As the cooking competition ended, FCCLA members took part in their yearly Widows Outreach. Students spent the week baking treats. Then they rode together to deliver the baked goods and kind words to widows in the community.
This event shows the group's focus on service and caring for others. They shared this Bible verse: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…” ( James 1:27).
The Bristow FCCLA chapter continues to build skills and serve the community. Good luck to the winners at nationals.
